He married Atha Emma WALDROP, daughter of  James Harvey WALDROP and Trannie Melissa KEY, on September 18, 1937, in Lawrence County, Tennessee.  She was born June 18, 1920, in Winston County, Alabama, died September 23, 2001, in Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio, and buried in Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio.
