Note from Pam Moore:  "Will Ezzell had a sorghum mill. Walter, his son helped with this process. They got sugar cane off of some of the land across from Williams Hollow Boat ramp and made and sold molasses.

After the sugar cane matures it is harvested by striping off the leaves, removing the head of seeds then cut the stalk off close to the ground. After that process you have a stalk left.

The cane is then crushed and strained to remove pieces of the stalk and what is left is the juice. The juice is boiled until it becomes thick and syrupy. Then you got to eat the finished product. My grandpa and I loved it with butter and hot biscuits."
