Daniel and Lena lived in Belfort, Lewis County, NY until abt. 1910 when the family moved south 100 miles to Wolcott, Wayne Co., NY where they lived out their lives and are buried there in Rose, NY cemetery. Working with cousins, Debra Yancey Miller and Joan Reyn Davis along with some other cousins, we have compiled the family history. Recent research put us in touch with Christian Reyn family in California. Waiting for their help on researching family members in that state. Cooperation of families made many old journals from years since immigration available with family data plus priceless family photos. |

Yancey Jr. and his mother Nodie Mae Anderson-Yancey. There are photos with features that are comparable despite skin shade. Eyes, eyebrows, ear, and forehead structure in my spouse and our children who are fair complected since I am full blooded white. (The asian name comes from a man married to my mother who adopted me and my name was changed) I was born Leslie C. Jayco or alternate spelling Jaco of Tennessee. He was married to Bennie Gayle Stout. Both of them died when my dad was only 6, so I never knew my grandparents. My great grandfather was George G. Yancy. I was always told that my great grandfather came from Macon GA, to Texas. His father who's name I do not know brought his family to Texas after being involved in a shooting over some live stock. He could not read or write, and as you can imagine, also could not spell. When he moved his family to Texas he made a loan and the man at the bank spelled "Yancey" as Yancy. Our last name should be spelled Yancey. but with the move to Texas the "e" was left out?? I do know that his wife's name was Hattie, and I was always told that the city of Hattisburg, MS was named after her. But I don't know this to be fact. I have a brother named Daniel (Dan) A.
