Family Letters
HOME
A series of four letters between Wemple Family members, discussing ancestors. The
Wemples were from the Schenectady and Albany, New York area.

The letters are now in the possession of the C. G. Brisee Genealogy Library in Irwin, Iowa.

Letter 1

Dear Sir:
Your letter of 22d of Feb Recieved and I will now try and answer it. You wanted the
adresses of my Uncle the first Oliver S. Wemple Sch'dy N. Y. the next is Aaron S. Wemple,
East Main St Amsterdam N. Y. the next is Benjamin S. Wemple Princetown Schenectady Co.
N. Y.. My Grand Father Abram D. had but one Brother, John G. born June 4, 1807, Married
Sally Vine, Jany 15th 1831 and died June 8th 1839. without issue.
As to my Great Grandfathers Brothers you may trace Isaac's descendants by addressing his
son Abram I Wemple, Delanson, Schenectady Co. N. Y.
And you may also get the descendents of Abram by addressing William W. Wemple
Schenectady N. Y. a grandson of Abram. He is a lawyer and may not want to bother with
this matter and if he does not  tell him to give you the address of his brother Jeremiah. He
is in New York City, I do not know his address but he is some what interested in this work.
Jacobus Swits died without issue.

Dear Sir - I deferred writing to your in reference to the questions sent me in your form of
16th inst. until I could go to N. Y. city where I saw my Bro J. V. Wemple, as I knew I had
referred you to him some time since. I showed him your recent form (16th inst) and he
says he answered substantially all that could be found from our immediate family.
Regarding myself will say was graduated from Albany Law School May 20th 1886. Spent
two ½ months prospecting through the west. Returned and commenced practice of law here
Sept 5th 1886. Not married. See Albany Evening Union under date Nov 23rd 1889.

Sch'dy May 6, '94
Mr. Wm B. Wemple

Dear Sir - Since I Rec'd your letter have been out to my house & asked for the information
you wanted & was told they had given all the information I could give. I imagine from your
letter you did not know to which family I belong. My father is Jacob D. & one Bro. George
W., the rest I suppose you know.
If there should be anything more I could help you I will be glad to do so.

June 18th, 1894

Mr. Wm B. Wemple
Sir in your letter of May 21 you said Isaac refered you to me saying I had the old Bible. It
is not true, I have not any thing. He sold every thing at Public Auction in Schenectady at
the time I was laying sick.
So all I have is the family Reckord from it. I give you these items.

Aron B. Wemple Born Aug 15th 1804. Married April 2th 1829. Died Nov 23th 1876.
Egnes Vandepool Born Jan. 20th 1808. April 2th 1829. Died Sep. 11th 1885.
Children
Isaac A. Wemple Born Jan. 4th 1830. Died Feb 17th 1832.
Mary Ann Wemple Born Dec. 31st 1831. Married Mar. 14th 1854. Died March 8th 1855.
She Married Remyne Robinson, still living out west cannot inform you what part he is.
Isaac Wemple Born Oct 20th 1833.
James Wemple Born Jan 28th 1835, Died Feb 20th 1884.
Marguaretta Wemple Born July 10th 1837. Married Dec. 27th 1859.
Catherine Wemple Born July 15th 1840. Married Mar. 8th 1860. Died July 30th 1876.

I can only give you Jameses wifes Christens name it is Katie Ferlissa her sir name I have
forgotten it. After his death she wrote me her friends had written to her from California to
return there. She is an orphan.
