very suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nancy Winchel, between this village and Hoboken, on
Thursday last. Mrs. Winchel, after learning that he was feeling well, left him and went up to her son's,
but a short distance, and upon Mr. Winchel going to the house, discovered that he had passed peacefully
away, sitting in his large chair before a good wood fire of his replenishing. Mr. Ingalls was a genial and
pleasant neighbor, and many remember his jovial and pleasant presence at Clockville on Tuesday, when
he cast, unknowingly, his last ballot, undoubtedly for the winning candidate , as he was a strong
Republican. He leave one other daughter, Mrs. Mary Miller, of Utica, and two sons, Jason of Syracuse, and
Nicholas, of Canastota. He also has one brother, Coonrad, of Peterboro. The funeral was held yesterday
from the home of his grandson, Fenton Winchel, and the remains were laid to rest in Wampsville,
beside the wife, who died several years ago.
Oneida, May 21. About 5 o'clock this morning Mrs. Ruth Marie Hines died at the home of her son, George
Hines, No. 38 Elm street. Mrs. Hines was about 77 years old and was a native of Herkimer. She had been
a resident of this place for only about 4 months.
Nancy C. Winchell, who had been temporarily living here with her granddaughter, miss Geneva Winchell, a
student in the new Cherry street school, died unexpectedly about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at No.
104 Main street. Neuralgia of the heart is given as the cause. The deceased was the wife of Benjamin
Franklin Winchell and was born in Lenox in 1845. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Fenton
Winchell, two brothers, Jason Ingalls of California and Nicholas Ingalls of Canastota, and by one sister,
Mrs. Washington Miller of Ilion. The body was taken to her late home about one mile south of
Hobokenville last evening and funeral services will be held there on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
The sad news was received here last night of the very sudden death, at Oneida, of Mrs. Frank Winchell,
who had resided at this place for many years. Since last fall Mr. and Mrs. Winchell have been living in
Oneida, where their has been staying with them and attending school. Mrs. Winchell had
apparently been in quite good health of late, but was suddenly taken with heart disease at about 5:30
yesterday afternoon, and before any of the family could be summoned, had quietly passed away. Her
death had caused a gloom to settle over this whole community, and the heart-felt sympathy of all is
extended to the family in their unexpected bereavement and great loss.
The funeral of Mrs. Nancy C. Winchel will be held to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late residence.
Rev. W. S. Lyon of Stockbridge will officiate and the remains will be taken to Clockville for interment.

Peterboro, May 11, 1899 - Conrad Ingalls, an aged and much respected citizen, died at his farm
residence, two miles east of Peterboro, last Sunday. He leaves three sons and a step-daughter. Albert
has remained home and conducted the large farm interests; Prof. Willis A. Ingalls is the principal of
the Phelps High School, and Owen, the youngest, is a resident of Washington, D. C. The step-daughter is
the wife of Thomas White, of Cazenovia. Rev. Mr. Reynolds, pastor of the M. E. Church, conducted the
funeral services at the residence Wednesday afternoon.
Sudden death Last Night
Mrs. Mary Winchell
Mrs. Mary Winchell, wife of B. Franklin Winchell of Hobokenville, died suddenly at 104 Main street last
night. Death was caused by heart disease. Mrs. Winchell was occupying the apartments where she died
and boarding her granddaughter, Miss Genevieve Winchell, who is attending the high School. Mrs.
Winchell was taken sick Wednesday, but was thought to be better and her death came without a
moment's warning. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Fenton, who lives at home. The
remains were taken to her late home, one-half mile south of Hobokenville, last evening.
B. Franklin Winchell [Born 1839 added in pencil]
B. Franklin Winchell died at his home near Lenox at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon of acute dysentery.
His wife died in Oneida seven years ago. Mr. Winchell was born at Chittenango Falls 69 years ago. He
was a prominent and successful farmer, a staunch Democrat, and highly respected by all who knew
him. He leaves on son, Fenton of Lenox, a granddaughter, Mrs. Glenn M. Peckham of Solsville, one
brother, William of Wilmot, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. John Whalen of Maniius Center. Mr. Winchell was a
member of Oneida Lodge, No. 270, F. & A. M., which will probably conduct the services at the grave. The
funeral will be held at the house at 2 p. m. tomorrow and burial will be made in Glenwood.

Succumbed To Operation
The Death of Mrs. Grace Scutt Causes Much Regret
Savannah, Dec. 15. - The people of this village were quite shocked Tuesday evening to learn of the death
of Mrs. Grace Scutt, wife of Edward Scutt, of this place, which occurred in Syracuse that day in the
Women's and Children's hospital. On the preceding Friday she underwent an operation for the removal
of a tumor and seemed to be recovering until Tuesday morning, when a change for the worse was noticed
and she rapidly failed. She had lived here several years and was 37 years old. She was a faithful wife and
a good friend and neighbor. Besides her husband she leaves an aunt, Mrs. Simeon Titus, of this place,
and several other distant relatives. Undertaker Silver of this place removed the body from Syracuse to her
home north of this village, where the funeral will be held Saturday at 11 A. M. The burial will be in the
Clyde cemetery.
Wilmot Resident Celebrates His 98th Birth Anniversary
Surrounded by the immediate members of his family and by many friends who came to congratulate him
upon reaching the ninety-eighth milestone of his life, William Warren Winchell, the oldest resident of
Kenosha County, County, celebrated his birthday Wednesday at his home in Wilmot. It was a quiet
celebration but one which bespoke the respect of hundreds of friends which he has made during his
almost-a-century of life. Scores of visitors came to his home to honor him on this notable occasion,
spending the time in pleasant reminiscences of the past.
Mr. Winchell was born in Chittenango Falls, Madison County, New York on the 24th of November, 1828.
His parents, of Massachusetts and Vermont origin were farmers and he has lived a good share of his life
on the farm.
Came to Kenosha county in '67
During the early part of his married life he lived on his father's farm in New York but in 1867 he came to
Wisconsin and within a few months he bought the farm which he still owns in Randall Township, Kenosha
County. Here he lived until 1907 with his wife and his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George
Winchell. Theirs was a happy home and noted for its hospitality.
In the year 1907 the two families moved to the present Winchell home at Wilmot. Here Mr. and Mrs.
Winchell celebrated their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary with a large gathering of friends and
relatives. Four years afterwards she was taken from the family group by death. Maria Kellogg was
married to W. W. Winchell on December 31, 1851 and passed away in 1911. Three children were born to
this union. Charles who died in infancy, George who passed away January 9th, 1924 and Adelaide, Mrs.
Hiram Patrick who is tenderly caring for her father and making his declining years happy ones.
There is also one granddaughter, Mrs. W. H. Kruckman, of Burlington, Wisconsin, and four great
grandchildren.
Leader in Community
Politically, Mr. Winchell is a Republican and an admirer of the late Robert LaFollette. He was public
spirited and served as supervisor of Randall Township for several years as Highway commissioner.
He is a member of the Masonic Lodge having joined that order in New York, April 19th, 1867. Later he
took a demit and became a charter member of Wilmot Lodge No. 241 F. & A. M. He is also a charter
member of the Wilmot Chapter O. E. S. No. 204.
Beloved in Village
Life's pathway has passed through pleasant places for Mr. Winchell and he has been granted the
privilege not given to many to have lived nearly a century. It is but the past few years that Mr. Winchell
discontinued his walks about the village where he has been a loved and familiar figure so long. He
derived much pleasure from being driven about the country in his car until the condition of his health
prevented such trips recently. But his active interest in people and places remains.
