A Statistical Analysis of Yancey generations from the early 1700's down to the present time.

The chart below is an analysis based on a Yancey Genealogical database of over 15,000 Yancey descendants. An analysis of the descendants of the two main branches of the family (the Lewis Davis Yancey branch of Culpeper and the Charles Yancey branch of Hanover/Louisa County) was made, excluding all other Yanceys which have not yet been conmnected into these two main branches. The chart below goes generation by generation, number 1 being that of Lewis Davis & Charles Yancey. For each generation ststistics such as male/female Yancey/NonYancey counts have been tallied. Also various Averages. The database from which this is extracted is certainly not compete, especially for the period of 1900 forward. Also Female (non Yancey lines) were not carried forward in most cases beyond about generation 6 or so (that is why the ratio of Yancey to Non - Yancey in generations 7 forward is low and not true of reality). The Yancey database is pretty complete from generation 1 thru 4 or 5 - and the statistics there can be taken with much more confidence than those generations that follow.

Some interesting things come to light. A few interesting examples: The average number of years between generations - about 30 years. The average age at marriage in the 1700 & 1800's - 25 for men & 21 for women - and very consistant. The rate of growth from one generation to another shows how within a few generations the number of Yanceys has exploded.
