Charles was the son of John Henry Yancey who married twice; First to Martha Ann Edwards, daughter of Horatio N and Francis Elizabeth (Dillingham) Edwards; Second to Ida May Priser, daughter of George Washington and Sarah (Booher) Priser.
Charles Franklin is the son of John and Martha. He married Stella B Shumate, daughter of James Oscar and Minerva Frances (Goodman) Shumate on 29 Apr 1913.
Charles was a Missouri Pacific Railroad man for 48 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad conductors and the Brotherhood of RR trainmen.
Charles worked out of Jefferson City Missouri and there are two ways to get to Kansas City, Missouri from there. One is the River subdivision and the other is the Sedalia division, both part of the Eastern division - thus those routes were called subdivisions. The River Sub runs along the Missouri river many miles and passes through Boonville Missouri. The Sedalia Sub runs straight across the state through Sedalia, where the crews could be changed out. One route was 182 miles long and the other 154 miles. You could run west on one route and back on the other. (Railroad information from JMW, #46782742, an "old" railroader, himself.)
